What is Google Calendar Analytics?
While Google Calendar does not have a formal analytics tool, there are many google calendar integrations that can be used to pull data from your Google account and automate the analysis. By doing this, you can identify the specific meetings you are attending, for how long, and with whom. This insight is extremely valuable to optimize time spent and improve time management.
Automate Google calendar analysis in 3 steps
When you are always overbooked it can be hard to see if you are spending your time the way you want to. This template shows you how to leverage a Coda doc and the power of automation to understand how you spend your time. In this example, we show how to pull in your google calendar events and applying some Coda magic to build your own analytics tool.
How does this work? Well, follow the steps below to see the chart reveal itself.
This doc uses a Google Calendar Packs table, so you should sync your Google Calendar account in step 2. After syncing to Google Calendar, I added a "My Categories" column based on what I want to analyze. As each event is tagged with a category Coda automatically charts where time is being spent across all your scheduled meetings.
1️⃣ Select how many days from today to pull events.
This calendar analysis is forward-looking so that you can action on your insights and make changes immediately. A good practice is to do this weekly before Monday to make adjustments based on current priorities, deadlines, or holidays.

Here’s where the fun begins, customizing your analysis on demand. In this example, I created an example set of categories. If you'd like to customize your categories, then all you need to do is update the column format for "My Categories" in the table.

The options are endless here. The most common categories analyze are types of meetings and meeting duration. People analytics is another great way to analyze your Google Calendar data, especially if you are using this as a Personal CRM to track who you are spending time with.
Can Google Calendar track hours spent?

Can you pull reports directly from Google Calendar?
Google Calendar does not allow users to export reports at the moment. To generate reports based on your Google Calendar, you will first need to export your Google Calendar data (or sync with Coda) and then run analyses separately to generate a report.
