Risk Reduction or Opportunity Enablement
In this table go column by column, giving each feature a unique value for "Feature Value", "Risk Reduction or Opportunity Enablement" and "Job Size". All values should be unique within a column.
About WSJF
Feature Value: The value that the company gains by developing and delivering this feature. This can represent any of the four types of value (Increase revenue, protect revenue, reduce costs, avoid costs) Risk Reduction or Opportunity Enablement: Non-user value that a feature provides. This could be reducing the risk of some future piece of work, or enabling the company to act on a future opportunity. Job Duration: How long it will take to deliver this feature Time Criticality: How important is it to begin work on this feature now versus some time in the future? How the Math Works
The math that goes into generating the WSJF Score for each feature multiplies the feature's value by the time criticality, and then divides that result by the job size.
This method provides gives us a clearer picture than the Value vs Effort method as it forces us to use the Fibonacci sequence to score each feature uniquely in terms of the different categories along a broader range. It also helps us expand our concept of "value" by considering the value a feature may provide coming from risk reduction and opportunity enablement. Finally, it also adds weight to the time criticality of a feature.
